Slow down for a few minutes.
I was watching a video on YouTube, as one does, and I noticed that I wasn't paying full attention to the video. I was "multitasking." No, I wasn't. I wasn't paying attention to the video. If I'm not going to pay attention to the video, why am I playing the video? It's not even 7 minutes long. I can't spend 7 minutes focusing on just one thing? That thought terrified me!
These are the kinds of questions I've been asking myself lately. Lots of introspection going on in here. I'm learning things about myself that aren't necessarily pretty. Let's get back to the video.
I actually found it difficult to devote all of my attention to the video, even though I was interested in the video. Notifications going off. Thoughts wandering. I was determined and I succeeded! And it's pathetic that I'm celebrating that.
It's time to slow down. Slow. Down. Do one thing at a time and do it well. Develop the mental discipline to filter out distractions and be fully present in that moment. It's not easy, but it's worth it (like most things that make us better in some way). Try it for yourself and let me know how it goes.
